Do you fancy trying something completely different to bake? We have tried a fluffy and delicious New Year's pretzel for you.
You will need the following ingredients:
- 1/2 cube of fresh yeast
- 340g milk 3.5%
- 100g sugar
- 600g wheat flour type 550
- 1 pinch of salt
- 100g soft butter
- 2 large teaspoons vanilla sugar
- 1 egg to coat
- caster sugar for sprinkling
Preparation in the TM:
1. Put the milk, yeast, sugar and 1 tablespoon of flour into the mixing bowl for 2 minutes at 37 degrees on dough setting 2.
2. Then leave the dough to rest for 15 minutes.
3. Add the remaining ingredients - except the egg and caster sugar - for 5 minutes on the dough setting.
4. Cover the dough in a bowl and leave to rise for 45 minutes.
5. Then divide the dough into 3 equal pieces and roll these into 1 meter long strands, braid and shape into a large pretzel.
6. Cover the pretzel and leave to rest on a greased stone slab or on a baking tray lined with baking paper for a further 30 minutes.
7. Finally, brush with the beaten egg and sprinkle with loaf sugar.
8. Bake in a preheated oven at 190 degrees top/bottom heat for 25 minutes.
The pretzel was supposed to cool before eating, but unfortunately we didn't get around to it because it looked and smelled so delicious.
