There are many ways to keep individual ingredients warm until they are nicely draped on the plate.
In the past, food used to be kept warm in style under a silver serving bell. This looks quite impressive, but is not necessarily suitable for everyday use, not to mention its poor insulating properties.
The oven method is better. Simply switch on the fan and keep the cooked ingredients in it at low temperatures until everything is ready to be served. However, if you put fish in the oven, for example, it quickly becomes dry. But you have cooked it gently in the Varoma over steam beforehand so that it stays juicy. So not ideal either. Thermomixers in particular used to have to get creative if they wanted to keep the individual ingredients warm.
Because if you're not cooking a one-pot dish, the food is prepared in different steps, depending on the cooking times. Once the fish, meat and vegetables are ready, it's time for the sauce. Now the cooked ingredients need to be kept warm. The slits in the cooking basket and Varoma are not exactly conducive to this. A tea towel only keeps things moderately warm. And the cooked ingredients are usually too wet to stuff everything under the thick comforter. If you want to keep your food warm, it's best to use a professional solution.
Under the hood
The new MiPla® warming hood can be compared to the thermal insulation used in houses. High-tech is also used in the hood to ensure that the heat stays inside and no cold can penetrate from outside. Premium fabrics, which are processed by hand using the sandwich method, have a high insulation factor. Similar to the silver cooking bell, the hood is simply slipped over the Varoma or the cooking tray. The MiPla® warming hood is available in two sizes: One in size S, to cover the cooking basket of the Thermomix and then in size L, under which both the cooking basket and the Varoma fit. Thanks to this new invention, it is now easier than ever to keep cooked ingredients warm in the Varoma or in the cooking basket over a longer period of time. If you want to be sure that the food doesn't cool down too much over time, you can use a roasting thermometer to keep an eye on the temperature at all times.
Hot on the table, then off to the cupboard
Once the food is deliciously warm on the plates, the MiPla® warming cover can simply be folded up and stored away to save space - until its next use. If something gets dirty during use, this is no problem, as the fabric is water-repellent and washable. Simply rinse the hood with lukewarm water and leave to dry.
Tip from the Wundermix team:
Not only the Varoma and cooking basket fit under the MiPla® warming hood L. A roasting pan or casserole can also be quickly stowed underneath and keep the contents warm without having to continue cooking the food with unnecessary heat from the stove or oven.
